Cycle Superstore Sail Cycle Challenge, RStGYC, Sat 5th & 6th October

Cycle Superstore Sail Cycle Challenge, Royal St George YC,  Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th October - Enter online

Note - this year includes a start for Laser Radials!

Day 1, Cycle
Cycle, Saturday 5th October
Start time: 1300 sharp from the Club Forecourt

Route: The event will feature a cycle of 64 km, starting at 13:00 on Sat 5th October from the Club. The cycle will finish back at the Club at about 17:00. Have a look at the route on the link for full details.
We invite everyone to come along. You may participate in the cycle or the Laser racing alone, but as the weekend is all about the social we would encourage everyone to jump on a bike and do a few km. The cycle route will take us up to Enniskerry in the Wicklow  mountains, so the roads are quiet and the scenery great.

-----------------

This year we will be using the popular cycling App called Strava, which can be downloaded on to your smart phone. Along the route there are 3 short stages or segments that have been defined as time trials.  Your time along these stages will be automatically recorded by Strava and your time ranked against the other competitors!

Strava can be downloaded for free from the Apple App store or the Google Play Store.

There are good places to stop for coffee (or other drink) in Enniskerry and Glencree.

Scoring for the Cycle:The scoring will be divided according to fleets, namely Standard and Radial. Each of the cyclists will be scored according to their finishing position in their fleet for each segment or (race). There are 3 segments and you can discard your worst one.

DinnerThere will be a superb 3 course dinner in the Club at 20:00, with some  prizes for the cycling afterwards. The dinner is €25 per person. Book early as the dinner was popular last year and we are limited to 35 people.

Day 2, Sail, Sunday 6th OctoberThis year there is a start for Standard and Radial. First gun will be 11:00. The races will be short (about 30 minutes), with the emphasis on skill rather than endurance!

We aim to finish at about 14:00 with prize giving. If 3 races are sailed there will be 1 discard. So for the overall results, 2 cycle races and 2 Laser races will be counted for each fleet.

PrizesWe hope to have prizes for: Radial Mens, Radial Womens, Standard Overall, Standard Apprentice Master, Master and Grand Master.

Entry Fee:The entry fee for the sailing/cycling is €15, and for the cycling alone is €5.
